HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SMILE

What is a smile makeover — a guide to getting perfect straight white teeth

When we’re constantly bombarded with airbrushed adverts and filtered selfies on social media, it isn’t surprising that we take more of an interest in our appearance. Since teeth are a focal point of the face, they are under increasing scrutiny and you may well have wondered how to get the perfect smile.

Luckily, advances in dental technology mean that now, more than ever, it is possible to transform your smile and achieve perfect straight white teeth.

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SMILE AT THE DENTAL ARCHITECT

Our teeth whitening and straightening treatments can unlock your confidence and this can have a huge impact on the rest of your life. From a full smile makeover to more subtle enhancements, our team of knowledgeable dental experts are on hand to transform your smile.

WHAT IS THE PERFECT SMILE?

Have you ever wondered what makes a perfect smile?

Although the criteria of what makes the ideal smile are somewhat subjective, the majority of people would aspire to perfect straight white teeth.

When planning a full smile makeover, dental experts consider the following elements:

Symmetry
Morning and last thing at night: brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes, with fluoride toothpaste. Spend an equal amount of time in each quadrant of your mouth and brush all the surfaces of your teeth (front, back, and top). Electric toothbrushes tend to be more effective than manual.

Colour
Clean between the teeth with dental floss, tape or an interdental brush, depending on preference and space between teeth. You may wish to use a mouth wash for extra freshness and to remove dislodged debris.

Alignment

teeth should be straight and evenly aligned, without excessive gapping

Visibility
when smiling, the top teeth should be more visible than those at the bottom

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SMILE?

The first step towards achieving a perfect smile is to make an appointment with a reputable dentist.

When you have a consultation at The Dental Architect, we will discuss your objectives and find out exactly what you would like to achieve — whether that’s a small improvement or a full smile makeover.

Once we have discussed your aspirations, our experienced dentists will create a completely bespoke treatment plan for you.

HOW TO GET PERFECT STRAIGHT TEETH

As mentioned, the alignment of your teeth is a key component to a great smile. Here at The Dental Architect, we are incredibly proud to be Diamond Apex-level accredited providers of Invisalign.

Invisalign is an innovative, market-leading clear aligner treatment that can be used to make changes to the alignment of your teeth, from crowding to gaps. The discrete aligner is barely noticeable, yet also very effective, which is one of the reasons why it is so popular. With rapid results, it is possible to have perfectly straight teeth in just three months.

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SMILE WITH PROFESSIONAL TOOTH WHITENING

Over time, our teeth tend to get stained from ageing, as well as smoking or drinking tea, coffee or red wine. If this is the case, professional teeth whitening is a very effective way to restore your smile and safely remove stains without causing any damage to your teeth.

Here at The Dental Architect, we are proud to offer teeth whitening for exceptional results. If you would like to find out more about brightening your smile with our teeth whitening treatment, please call and make an appointment today.

MORE WAYS TO ACHIEVE PERFECT STRAIGHT WHITE TEETH

A full smile makeover can also be achieved with either composite bonding or dental veneers.

With composite bonding, a malleable composite resin is usually applied to part of your tooth to improve its appearance. Composite bonding is a quick and effective way to enhance your smile and it has minimal impact on the treated tooth. Composite bonding can be used to disguise stains caused by fluorosis or congenital defects, as well as fixing small chips, or lessening the gaps between teeth.

By contrast, porcelain dental veneers are thin custom-made structures that are bonded to the surface of the entire tooth to improve its appearance. Porcelain veneers can be used to address gaps, alter the contours of your teeth, improve alignment, and disguise discolouration or poor texture. Veneers are tailored to fit your teeth precisely — to apply them, your dentist must first take a thin layer off your tooth which usually means that this is an irreversible procedure.

These treatment options are suited to different dental concerns — one of our experts can talk you through your suitability for each procedure.
