Dental implants are a high-quality missing tooth replacement treatment.Β

Whether you have a singular missing tooth or multiple teeth that have been damaged, our clinicians will use high-quality dental implants to provide you with a healthier, happier smile. We truly take the time to find a treatment that is suitable for you, with dental implants offering the perfect solution for gaps between the teeth.

Our clinicians in Leeds may recommend dental implants for a number of reasons.

You may have a single tooth gap due to trauma or infection. You may have a crown that keeps falling out or have had a permanent tooth missing from birth. If you have multiple teeth missing, you could be having trouble eating, with food getting stuck between the gaps. Either way, dental implants offer the perfect solution to filling the gaps between your teeth. Missing teeth can have a significant impact on your oral health and your confidence, so we would always recommend replacing them.

Dental implants provide a range of benefits, from improving your oral health to boosting your self-confidence.

Permanent – dental implants are a permanent solution to missing teeth. They are a suitable option for most adults and can last a lifetime by maintaining good oral hygiene.

Secure – dental implants are secured into the jawbone, providing a stable foundation for a replacement tooth. This means that you can eat, speak and smile with confidence, knowing that your teeth are secure.

Prevent bone loss – when teeth are missing, the jawbone can start to deteriorate which may lead to a sunken and aged appearance. Dental implants can stimulate the jawbone and keep it healthy for years to come.Β

Natural appearance – we use the highest-quality materials to create a seamless and natural appearance. This is so that your dental implants blend in with your existing teeth.

Improved quality of life – missing teeth can make it difficult to speak or eat the foods that you love. Dental implants can restore your oral health and improve your quality of life.

TYPES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

There are two main types of dental implants:

ENDOSTEAL IMPLANTS β€”

This type of implant is the most common. Endosteal implants involve the surgical placement of a small titanium screw into the jawbone to support a restoration.

SUBPERIOSTEAL IMPLANTS β€”

This type of implant is less common. The implant is attached to the jawbone and covered by the gums. If there is not enough healthy jawbone to support an endosteal implant, this option may be recommended by our clinicians. The implant is then given time to heal before the chosen restoration is attached.

During your consultation at our private practice in Leeds, we will discuss the ideal implant treatment for you.

STAGES OF DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT

CONSULTATION β€”

The first stage in the dental implant treatment process is to book a consultation at our state-of-the-art practice in Leeds. Our clinicians will take the time to discuss your specific needs and goals, taking a close look at your oral health and medical history. We may also perform X-rays to examine your jawbone.Β

TREATMENT PLAN β€”

We will then create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. During this stage, we will explain the process in more detail and answer any questions you may have before you commit to our private dental implants.

TREATMENT β€”

The next step is to surgically place the small titanium screw in your jawbone. The screw will act as an artificial tooth root and gradually fuse with the surrounding bone. This creates a strong foundation for the agreed restoration treatment to be attached.

RESTORATION PLACEMENT β€”

Once the implant has been placed, your body will need time to heal and for the implant to fuse with the surrounding bone. An abutment will then connect your implant to the restoration treatment, which may be a crown or a bridge.

AM I SUITABLE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?

During your consultation, our clinicians will discuss with you whether dental implants are a suitable treatment option. Dental implants are likely to be an effective treatment for patients who:

  • Do not smoke
  • Have one or more missing teeth
  • Maintain good hygiene at home

Dental implants may not be suitable for patients who:

  • Have certain medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes
  • Are not of an age where their jawbone has finished developing
  • Smoke, as this can impact the body’s ability to heal
  • Are on medications that may impact the success of dental implant surgery

WHAT IF I HAVE MULTIPLE MISSING TEETH?

Here at The Dental Architect, we’re pleased to provide single-tooth implant, multiple-tooth implant and full-mouth restorations.

Full-mouth dental implants are a little bit more complicated but you are still in the safest possible hands when you choose our highly skilled team in Leeds. The fitting of full-mouth implants is usually a two-step process, with the implant being installed and covered by the gum. A temporary tooth will then be put in place and a supportive abutment will be attached by one of our dentists at a later date.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Caring for your dental implants is the same as caring for the rest of your teeth. You must keep good oral hygiene and brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. We also recommend flossing and visiting our private practice for regular dental checkups.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We’ve put together some of our most frequently asked questions in regard to our dental implant treatments.

Dental implants are a safe treatment that can last a lifetime by maintaining excellent oral hygiene.

Yes. Dental implants can be used to replace a singular missing tooth or multiple teeth. You can have dental implants if you still have some of your teeth remaining.Β

After your dental implants have been placed, there is a healing process during which the implant fuses with the surrounding bone. Once this has healed your restoration, such as a crown or a bridge, can then be placed.

To aid your recovery after your private dental implant surgery, you should:

  • Avoid alcohol and smoking, as these can impact the healing process
  • Try not to disturb the area with your tongue or fingers
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days after surgery
  • Keep your mouth as clean as possible – rinse the mouth regularly with salt and warm water
  • If you experience extreme pain and swelling, please contact us for advice
